Leading up to Halloween you can’t miss one of the greatest horror concepts ever devised, Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). I understand the conceit that Wes Craven is a master of horror. Although there was many difficulties in getting this film produced whether there was budget issues or distribution issues the film turned from dream to reality and became our nightmare. The special effects are horrifying; consider the blood geyser scene. The poignant subtext of this film holds its message even today. The sexual promiscuity and trouble of teens are real even in the suburbs of Reagan’s America.
